Valuable care and cleaning tips for your fine jewelry
• Fine jewelry should be insured. There are replacement policies and fair market value policies. You can discuss the various policies with your insurance agent or call Jeweler’s Mutual Insurance Co. at 1-800-558-6411. Please don’t assume that your homeowner’s policy automatically covers the full replacement value of your jewelry.
Stop in at least once a year so we can inspect your jewelry for any excessive wear or loose gems. We will ultrasonically clean and inspect your jewelry as a free service. It’s especially nice to have this done before an important event where your jewelry is likely to be noticed
Don’t wear jewelry while swimming in the ocean or a pool. Water is a lubricant and can cause your fingers to shrink. Your ring may then slide off your finger without you knowing it. Also some pool and spa chemicals may cause stress corrosion, especially to white gold jewelry.
Diamond, ruby and sapphire jewelry can be cleaned in a solution of clear ammonia. Just soak the item in the ammonia, rinse with cool water then dry with a towel. Toothpaste and other types of cleansers are not recommended because of their abrasive properties. Ammonia also cleans other types of jewelry but please ask us before doing so.If you ever have any questions about your jewelry please call.
